Former Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello, who also played with Chris Cornell in Audioslave, is hosting a new radio show on SiriusXM entitled Renegade Radio. During a new video promo he touches on the musical and cultural impact the band of the times had, such as Billy Corgan and The Smashing Pumpkins, along with Nirvana and others. Alternative Nation transcribed Morello’s comments:

Morello: Hi, I’m Tom Morello. What can listeners expect on my Renegade Radio show? Dangerous tunes will be rocked and dangerous truths will be revealed. I’ll be playing songs that ignited mosh pits around the world, telling tales of tragedy and triumph as well as raging hard to music from throughout my career.

Morello continues:

Morello: What made me want to do a radio show? Rock and roll is armed freedom of thought. It can create mosh pits in your mind as well as the show in front of the stage. I’ll be leading an audio assault aimed to bust your radio in half.

Morello concluded:

Morello: Why was 90’s alternative such an incredibly creative period of music? It had punk roots visit its fearless exploration in music and lyrics and the unapologetic embracing of kick-ass rock and roll. Bands like Nine Inch Nails, Jane’s Addiction, Rage Against The Machine, Tool, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Soundgarden and Alice in Chains ignited a musical revolution and I’m all about it.
