We report earlier this week that Disturbed frontman David Draiman paid tribute to Chris Cornell, Scott Weiland, Dimebag Darrell, and Chester Bennington at a concert in New York at Madison Square Garden on Monday, calling them ‘casualties’ of a ‘war.’ Video has finally surfaced of this tribute. Disturbed bassist John Moyer was bandmates with Weiland in the supergroup Art of Anarchy.

“We’ve had far too many casualties in this war,” Draiman said.

He added, “I miss Chester. I miss Chris. I miss Scott.”

A video featuring the deceased musicians was created for the live performance of the song “Hold On To The Memories.” The video features rare footage and photos of Cornell, Weiland, Dimebag, and Bennington. You can see the video below.

Lyrics:
Listen, everyone
The time will come when all of us say goodbye
Feel that aching in your heart
Leaving you broken inside
But we’re never really gone
As long as there’s a memory in you mind
So now go do the best things in life
Take a bite of this world while you can
Make the most of the rest of your life
Make a ride of this world while you can
Take the ones you love
And hold them close because there is little time
And don’t let it break your heart
I know it feels hopeless sometimes
But they’re never really gone
As long as there’s a memory in you mind
So now go do the best things in life
Take a bite of this world while you can
Make the most of the rest of your life
Make a ride of this world while you can
And hold on to memories
Hold on to every moment
To keep them alive
The world’s greatest tragedy
Souls who are not remembered
Cannot survive
So now go do the best things in life
Bring the fight to this world while you can
Make the most of the rest of your life
Shine your light on this world while you can
And hold on to memories
Hold on to every moment
To keep them alive
The world’s greatest tragedy
Souls who are not remembered
Cannot survive
And hold on to memories (Hold on)
Hold on to every moment
To keep them alive (Keep them alive)
The world’s greatest tragedy (Hold on)
Souls who are not remembered
Cannot survive

Chester Bennington, the frontman of Linkin Park and Stone Temple Pilots, died by suicide in July 2017. Chris Cornell, the lead singer of Soundgarden and Audioslave, died by suicide in May 2017. Scott Weiland, the frontman of Stone Temple Pilots and Velvet Revolver, died from a drug overdose in December 2015.

Expo.NJ reports that Draiman said he was using mammoth platform to urge fans to seek help when needed and assist their family and friends: “drag them kicking and screaming to rehab if you have to.”

He asked the crowd of 15,000 onlookers to raise their hand if they or someone they knew had struggled with these diseases. Almost every hand went up, in somber contrast to the band’s titanic “Ten Thousand Fists” single played a few minutes earlier.

“See, you are not alone,” Draiman said. “We are in this war together.”

Phone numbers for national suicide prevention and addiction lifelines were then shown on screen.
