Comedian and actor Jim Breuer was interviewed on SiriusXM to discuss a variety of metal and rock related topics. Here, Breuer discusses how Foo Fighters frontman and grunge icon Dave Grohl embarrassed the Comedy Central star. Alternative Nation reporter Mike Mazzarone transcribed Breuer’s comments.
Breuer: I actually, Foo Fighters came to a Metallica concert while we were out on tour.
Host: Uh-huh.
Breuer: I don’t remember the city but all I remember is they were backstage and I had a live camera so people can see what was going on. The big screen so people could see what’s going on backstage. I walked up to him and went “Dave [Grohl] and Taylor [Hawkins] can you guys do a thing? He looked at me and he goes “well, you know I asked you to do something and you didn’t really come through on that.”
*Breuer grimaces*
Host: Just put some salt in that wound.
“I really wanted to!”
Host: Is that what you said?
Breuer: Yeah.
Host: Dave Grohl just has the ability to embarrass you. He makes you say embarrassing things.
Breuer: And he didn’t, and again, he’s just… ahhh man.
Host: *mocking Breuer* I would of! I would of! I was looking for ya, I was ready for ya!
Breuer: *mocking himself* You left the room and I had all the lyrics on my arms. I can do it now, watch this. “In the beginning, 1955!”
Host: And he’s looking at you, going like, Jim, the reason I asked you to do it was because I thought we were on the same level. Why are you lowering yourself?
Breuer: *mocking himself* Yeah but now I’m with Metallica! *laughs*.
