A shelved song that Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl hoped to record with David Bowie may finally be set for release, but a mystery band will be recording it.
Grohl told GQ in a video interview (transcribed by Alternative Nation), “Yes, and I actually gave it to someone recently. I tried for years, I thought it was the coolest thing ever. We tried it, kind of worked on it, then I actually contacted Bowie about doing it together for this movie soundtrack, that didn’t work out. He didn’t like the movie, it wasn’t me, it was the movie (laughs). Then I started working on it again, and I then gave it to another band, who hasn’t used it yet.”
“I don’t want to spoil the surprise.”
He was also asked about the first thing he does when he gets off tour.
“I eat junk food. You would think while we were on the road, you’d imagine it’s just Burger King every day, but it’s not. We have these people that cook for us at shows, for us and our crew. They’re amazing caterers, and then we stay in these amazing hotels, so the first thing I want when I get back is a fucking nasty taco.”
He also said his mother is his hero.
“Of all the people I’ve ever met in my life, I think she’s just the most brilliant and strong, and caring and sweet and genuine, and polite. She’s an intellectual, she’s a brilliant woman, but she’s not a know it all, so she’s got that southern demeanor where you don’t correct people when they’re wrong all the time. She’s cool.”
