Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and Greg Kurstin have released the second-annual Hanukkah Sessions. They recorded eight cover songs, by Jewish artists, and released one for each day of Hanukkah. Other covers the duo have performed as part of this year’s Hanukkah Sessions include Billy Joel‘s ‘Big Shot’, Van Halen‘s ‘Jump’ and Barry Manilow‘s ‘Copacabana’. Grohl’s daughter, Violet, also made a guest appearance on vocals for a cover of Amy Winehouse‘s ‘Take The Box’. A Foo Fighters icon recently called Dave Grohl ‘Mickey Mouse’.

Dave Grohl surprises the fans

The Foo Fighters’ frontman has now uploaded the first two seasons of The Hanukkah Sessions to streaming services. Both seasons were initially released on YouTube, but Grohl has now made all 16 covers available to stream on Spotify, Apple Music, and all other major platforms.

Beginning in 2020, Grohl marked the Festival of Lights by covering songs from prominent Jewish artists with his friend and producer, Greg Kurstin. The inaugural Hanukkah Sessions included covers of Beastie Boys (“Sabotage”), Drake (“Hotline Bling”), Mountain (“Mississippi Queen”), Peaches (“Fuck the Pain Away”), Bob Dylan (“Rainy Day Women #12 & 35”), Elastica (“Connection”), The Knack (“Frustrated”), and The Velvet Underground (“Rock and Roll”).

For Season 2, Grohl and Kurstin put their stamp on songs by Lisa Loeb (“Stay (I Missed You)”), Ramones (“Blitzkrieg Bop”), Barry Manilow (“Copacabana”), Van Halen (“Jump”), Amy Winehouse (“Take the Box”), Billy Joel (“Big Shot”), The Clash (“Train in Vain”), and KISS (“Rock and Roll All Nite”).

It has been also revealed that next year, Foo Fighters will star in a new horror-comedy film called Studio 666, which was announced last month. Alongside the full band – Grohl, drummer Taylor Hawkins, bassist Nate Mendel, guitarists Pat Smear and Chris Shiflett, and keyboardist Rami Jaffee – the film will also star Whitney Cummings, Leslie Grossman and Jenna Ortega.

Foo Fighters are also planning a major stadium tour for 2020 throughout North America.
