Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl revealed a hilarious story about Green Day drinking with his mother in a dressing room backstage at a concert. He made the comments when discussing his mother at an Adobe Max speaking event. The Green Day family made a painful rehab announcement a few days ago.

“My mother is such a bad ass. I have the cool mom, and like I said she was a public school teacher for 35 years. They are heroes, these public school teachers. They are amazing, they really are, it’s true. It’s a specific type of person, to be a really good teacher.”

He mentioned how when she retired, she started traveling with him to shows, as she worked on her ‘From Cradle to Stage: Stories from the Mothers Who Rocked and Raised Rock Stars’ book, meeting other rock stars mothers. He also discussed seeing her drink with Green Day backstage.

“I would walk offstage, and go into my dressing room and my Mom was like drinking with Green Day.”

Dave Grohl is now working on making his mother’s book about rock star moms a television series. Grohl’s Foo Fighters bandmate Taylor Hawkins is releasing his new solo album Get the Money, and he discussed how he writes songs in a new Kerrang magazine interview. Hawkins revealed what Dave Grohl told a Foo Fighters member who quit yesterday.

He said about mountain biking, “I get ideas for songs and it’s where I do a lot of my problem solving and deep thinking. Sometimes I write songs in my head and then jump in my studio to put it down straight away. I like to go by myself. I like listening to old Aerosmith and Van Halen records to kind of pump me up. It’s my time and I love it. It’s a chance to clear your head out.”

He also said, “I came up with a lot of my ideas for my songs while I was on my bike, and the album was just pieced together. I’m always in my studio recording. I would do demos every time I came home from tour. We’d have two weeks off and I’d spend a couple of days kissing my wife’s ass, doing everything she’d asked me to, then I’d go into the studio for a couple of days and record.” A canceled major Foo Fighters supergroup release was revealed earlier this week.
