Dave Grohl revealed in a new interview that he smoked the drug hash while listening to the Nirvana album Bleach. He first became a fan of Nirvana when drumming for Scream in the late 80’s. Dave Grohl revealed yesterday what song has the same arrangement as “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”

“I was staying with a friend in Amsterdam. Whenever Scream toured Europe we’d stay in his apartment, buy hash, and get high listening to records.”

Nirvana’s Bleach was one of the albums Grohl’s friend had, and he was blown away by the power of the record.

Grohl told Guardian, “I loved the dissonance and the chaos, and then there was this beautiful song About a Girl right in the middle that could have been off a 60’s Beatles record.” He was dating a girl at the time who was a fan as well. “It may have been one of the first times I knew a girl who liked a band I liked.”

Grohl first saw Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic backstage at a Melvins show, and he was surprised at the way they looked.

“Novoselic is 6ft 8in and Kurt was quiet in a corner. I said to Buzz: ‘Who’s that?’ He said: ‘That’s Nirvana.’ I laughed. As with everything Nirvana, it didn’t make sense.”

Taylor Hawkins told RockSound.TV that Foo Fighters are expected to release a new album in 2020. A Foo Fighters member revealed last week that he rejected an offer to join Pearl Jam.

“Well, from what I’ve heard from our fearless leader Dave Grohl, he has a lot of demos that he’s worked on and I think we’ll start, once this tour is over… I think not too soon after that we’ll start the process of putting the songs together as a band.”
