Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins revealed that Kurt Cobain had a powerful singing relationship with Dave Grohl in a recent KLOS interview. Alternative Nation transcribed his comments. Dave Grohl was recently filmed dancing with an A-list star.

“Dave told me that when Kurt was writing [‘Pennyroyal Tea’], I don’t know if he was writing it, but he was playing it for him in their first apartment in Aberdeen. I think it was Aberdeen, I don’t know, I wasn’t there. He told me Dave was singing a harmony, just almost by accident, and that’s the harmony that is on the record. It really creates this amazing sort of weird tension that is just perfect.

That was a perfect band, Nirvana was a perfect perfect band. You knew it the second you saw them, the second you heard them. That guy sounds like John Lennon, that guy plays drums like Animal, and that bassist is a cool weird hippy bouncing around. They were perfect. Then they’re not here anymore, and Dave started this band called Foo Fighters, and instead of me delivering pizzas [I’m here].”

Grohl previously revealed what Cobain thought of an early “Alone + Easy Target” demo. Grohl also recently revealed an embarrassing secret about a fired Queens of the Stone Age member.

“Kurt heard that, and kissed me on the face, as he was in a bath,” Grohl said. “He was so excited. He was like, ‘I heard you recorded some stuff with Barrett [Jones].’ I was like, ‘Yeah.’ He was like, ‘Let me hear it.’ I was too afraid to be in the same room as he listened to it.”
