Jane’s Addiction fans at the concert in Boston Friday saw a stunning altercation between lead vocalist Perry Farrell and guitarist Dave Navarro. The incident saw Farrell appearing to purposely tackle Navarro on stage, leading to a heated confrontation that left both the audience and band members shocked.
Footage captured by fans shows that Farrell, in the middle of his meltdown, attempted to use his microphone as a weapon against his bandmates.
The tension between Farrell and Navarro reportedly escalated after Farrell got in Navarro’s face and began hurling insults at him. A confused Navarro could be seen asking what was going on, but before anyone could intervene, Farrell lunged at him. The situation intensified as Farrell started swinging punches, though it’s unclear if any landed on Navarro. Navarro has now apologized to Jane’s Addiction openers.
Dave Navarro apologizes
Navarro personally apologized to Jane’s Addiction openers for “terrible outcome” after canceling tour, writing on Instagram:
“I would like to personally apologize to Love and Rockets [and] Crawlers and their crews for such a terrible outcome of what started off as an incredibly magical tour. Love and Rockets are heroes of mine and I am so grateful I had the opportunity to perform on the same stage as them for as long as I did. It has truly been an honor!”
This comes after the band wrote in its Instagram story.“We want to extend a heartfelt apology for the events that unfolded last night.”
“As a result we will be cancelling tomorrow night’s show in Bridgeport,” followed by refund details.
Perry Farrell has also apologized to Dave Navarro after their battle onstage. Farrell told his Jane’s Addiction bandmates he is sorry in a new Instagram post, writing, “This weekend has been incredibly difficult and after having the time and space to reflect, it is only right that I apologize to my bandmates, especially Dave Navarro, fans, family, and friends for my actions during Friday’s show. Unfortunately, my breaking point resulted in unexcusable behavior, and I take full responsibility for how I chose to handle the situation.”
