David Lee Roth ‘Canceled’ Van Halen Album Release

Wolfgang Van Halen revealed on Eddie Trunk’s SiriusXM show an interesting story about Van Halen’s final new album, Alternative Nation recapped some of the conversation. Eddie Van Halen revealed a secret about Michael Jackson and a his son as a child.

Wolfgang said that David Lee Roth canceled the original release date for A Different Kind of Truth and wanted it postponed a week to coincide with the band’s Madison Square Garden performance in New York. The album was released on February 7, 2012, debuting at #2 in the United States. We’ll never know if Roth could have gotten his first #1 album with Van Halen had they stuck to the initial January 2012 release plan!

Wolfie also revealed that his late father, Eddie Van Halen, had laid out plans for his legacy, and that Alex will be involved in the archive process at 5150 someday when they go through the vaults, though there are no imminent plans for this to happen as the family mourns Eddie’s death.

Wolfie has said in other interviews that he Eddie would want him to focus on his own new album and not look back at the past.

Wolfgang also mentioned that his father told him that 1981 Oakland concert was only filmed for the already released videos, and there sadly isn’t any unseen material for fans.
