Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder has announced that he has recorded new songs for Sean Penn’s movie Flag Day, Pearl Jam Online reports. Vedder discussed the material on the Daddy Issues podcast, revealing that he spent two weeks in the studio in October 2019 recording with Cat Stevens, later completing the songs while in lockdown due to the pandemic, which postponed Pearl Jam’s Gigaton tour. Flag Day will feature Sean Penn, his daughter Dylan Penn, Avengers: Endgame star Josh Brolin, and Miles Teller.

Vedder is also auctioning off a signed baseball for charity, with bidding currently at $1,200. The auction states, “The Navajo Nation remains one of the hardest hit places by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. With limited resources and a vulnerable population, every bit of assistance they receive can make a profound difference.

In a continued effort to support the health and well being of Native youth and elders, we called in friend of Warstic, Eddie Vedder. Ed is a tremendous human, friend of Warstic co-owner Jack White, and the front man of the epic American band Pearl Jam. Ed generously autographed 6 of our Warstic Official Sandlot #3 Baseballs to auction off and help the cause!”

The auction ends in 13 days. Pearl Jam have many ties to baseball, with Gigaton songs being played as Major League Baseball has been starting its season on ESPN and FOX the last few days on television.
