Foo Fighters Member Rips ‘Unforgivable’ Dave Grohl: ‘Something Has To Be Done’

Original Foo Fighters drummer William Goldsmith ripped Dave Grohl in a new Facebook post. Goldsmith played with Foo Fighters bassist Nate Mendel in Sunny Day Real Estate.

“Recently by way of objective ears I have been reminded of the fact that the greatest Sunny Day Real Estate record ever made remains silenced, abandoned and buried within the murkiest depths of David Grohls sock drawer. It’s both a shocking slap of reality and a swift kick in the balls. Gets harder to handle each time. Somehow someday – something has to be done.

The tragedy of it is literally manifesting into physical pain. It honestly feels like someone has taken a part of me as a human being and locked it in a closet. My wife looked at me this evening and said ‘I am starting to understand what’s been haunting you for the past 6 years because it’s starting to haunt me as well.’

This is not the first time I’ve had my voice taken from me. But now This music hasn’t just been taken away from me anymore – now it’s been taken away from my children. Unforgivable.”

Nate Mendel has disputed Goldsmith’s claims, telling Consequence of Sound that Grohl is not the reason for any material being unreleased. Mendel said, “There is no truth to this story.”

That guy sounds like he’s inching towards mental illness. Let’s hope he gets some help.

  • Cunt Fuckula

What a simpering little bitch. Still sour about getting booted from a band 25 years later. Move on, you knob..

    • KG

What if it’s the truth? Maybe grohl is that much of an asshole and you’re too much of a pussy fanboy to see it any other way?

      • Cunt Fuckula

lol I don’t even like the Foos, so fuck you. Goldsmith has always been a simpering twat with sour grapes over getting booted from the Foos; even the most tepid of fans knows this. The fact that he’s still bitching about it 25 years later and you’re here defending him like he’s Bill Ward or something just makes it even funnier, lmao..

    • Mystichydra

It’s still a blow, honestly. Think of Pete Best for instance. He must’ve masochistically obsessed about what could have been. “If only I was a better drummer”…

Regardless, I’d be surprised if there weren’t such emotions from the member of an emo band. Though Foo Fighters is like 50 times better than Sunny Day Real Estate.

Yoda says: Taylor Hawkins you are not.

    • Corndog

Yeah, but Yoda couldn’t recognise a Sith when he was sitting two foot in front of him, so what does he know?
