The late Queen frontman, the legendary and forever iconic Freddie Mercury, who recently had this passionate recording revealed, passed away on November 24th, 1991. Since then there has still been some level of a dispute regarding his death. It has been rumored in the many years that have since passed that the beloved late singer of such hits as ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ and ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’ had his personal belongings and possessions burned in accordance with the Iranian religion known as Zoroastrianism.
However, in a new feature with Express, Mercury’s sister Kashmira Bulsara is personally disputing this. She told the outlet the following quote.
“Unfortunately it seems that the information that has been supplied about his belongings being burnt is not correct. Everything that Freddie’s family had access to or were given has been kept in memory of Freddie and is still with Kashmira today. Nothing was burnt due to the family’s beliefs and this is not part of the Zoroastrian faith.”
In other news concerning Freddie Mercury, the group famously played during the 1985 Live Aid concert on Saturday 13 July 1985, as well as a music-based fundraising initiative. The original event was organized by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure to raise further funds for relief of the 1983–1985 famine in Ethiopia, a movement that started with the release of the successful charity single “Do They Know It’s Christmas?”
During an unrelated interview with the same outlet, Freddie’s close friend and long-term assistant, Peter Freestone revealed why he had no desire to meet the Royal Family at the event. Credit to Express once again for the below.
“Even at Live Aid, you see Brian May and Roger Taylor in the royal box. Freddie didn’t go. He was more interested in being with friends backstage, talking with Elton John, and hanging out with his people. His friends were always the most important to him.”
