Gene Simmons, the fire-breathing, tongue-wagging bassist of KISS, is no stranger to bold claims and outlandish stories. But he recently revealed a tale involving Star Wars creator George Lucas—and theft. Not of intellectual property, but something much closer to home.
During an appearance on The Fighter and The Kid Podcast, Gene recalled getting a phone call from George Lucas, who wanted to hire his nanny. The Star Wars creator was apparently so impressed by her that he ended up hiring her away from Simmons.
On the surface, Gene Simmons and George Lucas couldn’t be more different. One is a rock star who thrives on shock value, and the other is a reserved storyteller who revolutionized filmmaking. But when you look closer, their stories share some surprising parallels. Both built empires, both became cultural icons, and both have legions of fans who are fiercely loyal.
This isn’t the first time Gene Simmons has mentioned Star Wars. In past interviews, Gene has praised the franchise and spoke about The Mandalorian and Gina Carano.
Simmons has also done some other interesting creative things over the years. In addition to starring in films such as Never Too Young to Die, having his own reality show, and voicing himself in a Scooby-Doo special, Simmons also has a cool history with comics. Last year, Simmons brought a new comic book, Dominatrix, to market with Opus Comics.
