Greta Van Fleet have been accused of ripping off Led Zeppelin’s sound on their popular hit “Highway Tune.” Robert Plant said last year, “They are Led Zeppelin I.” He added, “[Josh Kiszka] borrowed [his voice] from somebody I know very well! But what are you going to do? That’s OK.” Former Greta Van Fleet manager Michael Barbee has revealed to Alternative Nation that former drummer Kyle Hauck received royalty payments for “Highway Tune” while Danny Wagner received nothing.

“I started managing the band in 2012, and by that same time the following year [Kyle Hauck] was gone and Danny was in. He actually had songwriting royalties, Highway Tune is actually the three Kiszka boys and Kyle Hauck, Danny doesn’t get royalties for that song. Kyle had some health issues, I’d say his work ethic as a band member was lacking substantially. He’s the type of guy who wanted to be paid to come to band practice.

A Greta Van Fleet icon revealed why their last album ‘bombed’ critically a few days ago. Greta Van Fleet are set to release a new album in 2020, and a fan named Chocklepig revealed their hopes for it on Reddit, “Honestly even if the next album is their softest or most heavily acoustic, I wouldn’t be worried that they’d never go heavy again. Using Zeppelin as an example, Zeppelin III was in my opinion their most acoustic soft album.

But within a year they were back to an album that opened with bloody Black Dog. So I’m not worried about them ever losing their heavy sound, and in all honesty, I wouldn’t be opposed to an entirely softer album.”

TheRooster22 responded, “I completely agree with supporting the “softer” type of music as well as being able to go back to heavier rock. I will say that Zep III was warranted after an all out attack of Zep II, and that is what GVF needs. While they can go soft and be great, they need an all out offensive album that shows their full potential. After that, do whatever. IDK just my thoughts :)” Dave Grohl recently broke his silence on Greta Van Fleet backlash.
