In a new interview with Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith on SiriusXM’s Volume, Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan discussed possible new music, Izzy Stradlin, and Steven Adler. Alternative Nation transcribed his comments.

When pressed about a new GNR album, he said, “Working on a lot of new music on a lot of different fronts.”

“That band is clicking so well, it’s the best it’s ever been, and it’s the funnest it’s ever been. That stuff doesn’t really happen, and it happened to us. It’s just one of those things that happened in my life that was great, it happened for all of us, and new music would be a logical thing. We’ll see.”

He also discussed Steven Adler and Izzy Stradlin not being part of the Guns N’ Roses reunion lineup.

“Steve came out and played with us a few times which was fun. Izzy, I stay in touch with when I can.”

“This makeup of this band is what it is supposed to be now, and it feels good, and it’s the right mixture of people.”

Izzy Stradlin infamously stated in 2016 that he didn’t join the Guns N’ Roses reunion because Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan didn’t want to ‘split the loot’ with him equally. Steven Adler performed as a guest a few times, and later said he was frustrated to not play full time with the band.
