Jeffgarden recently posted a commercial that Howard Stern aired promoting his upcoming SiriusXM Chris Cornell tribute special. It’s unclear if the show will be a compilation of past Chris Cornell interviews and performances on the show, or if it will air new material. You can hear the commercial below, which featured a brief hilariously awful “Black Hole Sun” cover by Stern, featuring funny piped in boos.
Stern has frequently discussed Cornell in the last two years since his death, even being offered to attended the tribute show in January.
According to MarksFriggin.com in January, Howard Stern recently discussed the ‘I Am The Highway’ Chris Cornell tribute show. A caller discussed Jimmy Kimmel’s jokes at the show, and Stern seemed pleased with the shout out.
A caller said that Jimmy Kimmel was there and came out with a Baba Booey and a Hit ’em with the Hein.
Kimmel also made a strange joke about doing heroin for a week after the first time he heard Soundgarden’s “Spoonman” in 1994.
Howard read about some of the other songs that were performed at the tribute concert. Robin said that someone told her about Dave Grohl’s drumming and how heavily he hits them. Howard had Fred play a Soundgarden song. Howard asked why JD didn’t pull any of the tribute songs. JD said it wasn’t broadcast. Howard said he’s fired. Fred was playing ”The Day I Tried to Live” so Howard just let that play. Howard said he can’t believe JD didn’t pull anything. JD said it wasn’t a priority. He said that people were just posting what they got with their phones. He said he has stuff he has to work on today and he’ll pull that for tomorrow. Howard said he doesn’t need the whole concert. Howard said maybe they should play the whole concert.
The next day Howard said he wants to give a shout out to Jimmy Kimmel who was hosting the Chris Cornell tribute in California. Howard said he watched some of the clips on social media and he gave a Baba Booey and a Hit ’em with the Hein at the concert. Howard played a clip of Jimmy doing that after someone in the audience yelled out Baba Booey.
