Last July, just weeks before Ozzy Osbourne’s death, he and Black Sabbath took the stage at their final show, “Back to the Beginning.” While the event was put on to give them a proper send-off, it also had a dual purpose: to raise money for charity.
One month after the show, multiple outlets reported that “Back to the Beginning” had raised a massive $190 million – a claim that Ozzy’s wife and manager Sharon Osbourne quickly refuted.
In November 2025, Sharon revealed that the event actually raised around $10 million, with funds being distributed equally between Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Acorn Children’s Hospice, and Cure Parkinson’s.
Now, Ozzy and Sharon’s son Jack Osbourne has once again confirmed that they raised approximately $10 million – far below the $190 million figure initially reported by Billboard. Criticizing the outlets that circulated the inflated estimate, Jack said “the number was complete bullsh*t.”
“This is how you know the news is probably 90% bullshit, ’cause it was, like, CNN and New York Times was saying ‘Ozzy raised $150 million.’ And it wasn’t that,” Jack stated during a recent appearance on Tyler Ramsey’s podcast “Painful Lessons: Punk Rock Sober”
“I think what it came down to was, like, when all was said and done, because it was a charity gig, you still have to pay for the actual gig,” he explained. “No bands got paid, and most of the crew donated their time.
“But I think when all said and done, each charity got, like, one and a half or two million pounds [approximately $2.7 million] each. So, it was, I think, six or seven million pounds [approximately $9.4 million]. That’s what was donated to the three charities. I mean, we would’ve loved it if it was hundreds of millions. We would have been, like, ‘F*ck yeah.'”
