Keith Richards Rules Out Stones 2026 Tour
Keith Richards has indicated The Rolling Stones will not hit the road in 2026, though the guitarist suggested the band may revisit touring plans next year as they focus on releasing new music.
Richards said the group’s attention is currently on finishing and rolling out its upcoming album “Foreign Tongues,” adding, “I mean, we can talk next year. Possibly,” while noting, “Not this year, anyway,” People reported, citing an Associated Press interview conducted at an album launch event in New York City on May 5.
Mick Jagger also addressed the possibility of touring behind the record, saying he would “love to tour the album” as soon as it becomes possible. Jagger, who is 82, credited “discipline and a lot of hard work” for maintaining the fitness required to perform, while Richards, also 82, summed up his approach more simply: “You just do it as long as you can.”
The report said the “Foreign Tongues” launch event included details on the album’s guest collaborations, with contributions from Sir Paul McCartney, Mr. Robert Smith of The Cure and Mr. Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers. Jagger described recording in London as “an intense few weeks,” and Richards called the sessions “a month of concentrated punch,” emphasising that he is grateful to still be making records.
The tour outlook has been a recurring topic for the band in recent years, including earlier Alternative Nation reporting on the Rolling Stones rejecting a tour after complications during past planning cycles.
“Foreign Tongues” is set for release on July 10 and will be the band’s first new studio album since 2023’s “Hackney Diamonds.” Any live return appears to depend on how quickly the Stones decide to transition from the album campaign back to the stage.
