Kid Rock’s new Nashville restaurant, The Detroit Cowboy, is off to a rocky start after receiving a wave of negative reviews following its official grand opening.
The 12,000-square-foot restaurant, created in partnership with restaurateur Joe Vicari, offers steak, seafood, and fine dining, and is filled with memorabilia from Kid Rock’s music career. While some fans praised the atmosphere and food, others were less impressed. Several online reviews slammed the food and service, with one person calling the tacos “terrible and smelled weird,” and another saying, “Trash food with trash ownership.”
Despite the backlash, The Detroit Cowboy still holds a strong Google rating of 4.5 stars from over 300 reviews. Some customers enjoyed the unique décor and Kid Rock-themed items, with one diner saying the steak and eggs were “delicious” and that they’d definitely return.
Kid Rock, a vocal supporter of Donald Trump, has described the restaurant as a “fun” space that brings personality to fine dining. Trump himself congratulated the musician on Truth Social, calling it a “very friendly MAGA establishment” and saying he looks forward to visiting.
While some critics suggest that the negative reviews could be politically motivated due to Kid Rock’s ties to Trump, others simply weren’t happy with the food or service. Still, the restaurant is drawing attention, both positive and negative, and time will tell if it can win over more diners in the coming weeks.
