Maynard James Keenan Gave A-List Actor Early Copy Of Tool Record


Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan posted the following photo and story on his Puscifer Instagram page.

“Forgot to post this from @graspopmetalmeeting in Belgium. Last time I saw Johnny, I was workin as a props & art dog on a Tom Petty video, ‘Into the Great Wide Open.’ Johnny was on break from filming ‘Arizona Dream.’ (w Lilly Taylor, Faye Dunaway, Vincent Gallo, and Jerry Lewis.) He was one of the 1st people to receive an early 4-Track cassette demo of Tool tracks, pre-Opiate. Maynard James Keenan has toured with A Perfect Circle this year to promote their new album Eat the Elephant. Adam Jones is currently recording his guitar parts for Tool’s new album. The record is expected to finally be released in 2019.

Maynard received the Icon Award at Metal Hammer Golden Gods’ ceremony a little over a month ago. The award was presented by Daniel P. Carter, host of BBC Radio 1’s Rock Show. The award recognizes a lifetime of contributions to heavy music, with past lifetime achievement winners including Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Lemmy and Alice in Chains. Maynard was recognized for his work with his trio of bands: A Perfect Circle, Puscifer and Tool.
