Tool fans on Reddit recently resurfaced a note written by Maynard James Keenan, Adam Jones, Danny Carey, and Paul D’Amour when Undertow was censored in the 90’s. A photo of Maynard James Keenan in a ridiculous car recently surfaced.

“It came to our attention recently that many stories across our fine and open minded nation would not stock Undertow because of our explicit artwork. Although we loath being censored, we want your money (crossed out), we still want you to hear our music, so we took it out. However, it is available to you at no extra cost. Fill out the form, stick it in an envelope, mail it in, and we will send you the original artwork.

Love,

Tool.”

Tool fans on Reddit used the topic as an opportunity to take shots at the band’s official website. Norway_is_awesome posted, “Whoever runs that site is so inconsistent. I joined the Tool Army a month after my friend did, and I got the Tool Army package before she did. She actually still hasn’t received it, and we signed up in April/May.

Pneumatictool said, “It doesn’t surprise me really. They’re running a skeleton crew of only one person there looking after the merch from what I heard.”

Sin_theta chimed in, “I joined ToolArmy sometime in 2002. Pretty sure it was renew yearly but I paid once and never again. Still a member lol.”

Katishereok wrote, “For sure. My daughter pre ordered FI and didn’t receive it till right before Christmas. Also I ordered my son a hoodie in May and i still don’t have it. They did tell us that the things that were ordered were being back shipped because of the volume of orders. To bad about the original artwork in UT. I’m sure glad I ordered all the deluxe special edition albums.” Maynard James Keenan was recently booed at a Tool concert.
