New HollyWood Rewind – High School

New Hollywood Rewind is a new series on where writer Anthony Carioscia takes a look at films from the period known as New Hollywood. For this newest entry we will look at the experimental documentary called High  School.

High school is a documentary from 1968, the year New Hollywood started. The film is directed by Fredrick Wiseman and shows a typical high school in the Northeast during this time. The film shows the new more progressive/liberal mentality of the younger students while the teachers are stuck in their old conservative ways. The film is going to be down in an observational style. There are no interviews just footage of the high school and the stuff that happens. This is done so the audience can observe what goes on without a bias view point.
