It has been recently noted that a previously unreleased collaboration between Nine Inch Nails‘ Trent Reznor and film composer Danny Elfman is included in the upcoming deluxe collector’s edition of the latter’s album Big Mess. The box set is set to release in February 2022 and it includes a new version of the Big Mess song “Native Intelligence,” with vocals by Reznor. A collaboration with FEVER 333 on the song “Kick Me” will also be found in the set.
Nine Inch Nails will release 1,500 copies of the box
It has been also announced that only 1,500 copies of the box set will be made. You can pre-order yours now via DannyElfmanBigMess.com. Reznor and Elfman previously linked up for a duet for another Big Mess tune, title “True.” That was released this past August.
One can tell that the recording sessions between Reznor and Elfman would include a lot of discussion regarding movies, as they’re both Oscar-nominated film composers. However, Reznor has Elfman beat when it comes to wins — Trent’s won two with his scoring partner and NIN band mateAtticus Ross, for The Social Network and Soul, while Danny’s been nominated four times but has yet to go home with a trophy.
