Paul Rodgers Denies Health Rumours After Van Halen Talk
Bad Company and Free legend Paul Rodgers has moved to shut down renewed speculation about his health after comments linked him to an in-progress Van Halen-related project. Rodgers addressed the chatter on Saturday, saying he is feeling well and actively preparing for an upcoming live appearance.
Rodgers released a statement declaring, “My health is good. I feel fit and strong,” adding that he is rehearsing to perform on March 2 at the Adopt The Arts Sound And Vision Awards in Palm Springs.
The remarks came after Van Halen drummer Alex Van Halen discussed working with Toto guitarist Steve Lukather on completing recordings that were intended to become a future Van Halen album before Eddie Van Halen’s death in 2020, with vocals described as the missing piece on the unfinished tracks. Alex said he and Lukather had reached out to Rodgers, but claimed the singer ultimately declined.
Rodgers also acknowledged the invitation, thanking Van Halen while explaining that he is currently in what he called an “acoustic, zen phase” of life. His public reassurance arrives months after he missed Bad Company’s Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction, when he later said he experienced high blood pressure, chest pains and heart palpitations and was advised by a doctor not to fly.
With Rodgers now publicly insisting he feels “fit and strong” and returning to rehearsals, his next performance will be closely watched by fans who have followed his recent health updates and his decision to scale back into a calmer, more acoustic chapter.
