Pearl Jam covered a Chris Cornell song in its entirety for the first time since his death last night in Seattle at Safeco Field. They covered “Missing” which was written by Cornell for the 1992 film Singles, and was part of the Poncier EP. You can watch video below via Jeffgarden.

KOMO reports that Seattle came “Alive” Wednesday night as Pearl Jam rocked Safeco Field for its first “Home Show” concert.

The mission this time was bigger than music.

“I’m really proud of them,” said Pearl Jam fan Jean Sauve. “I’m proud they’re from Seattle, and I’m proud they take care of Seattle.”

For the first time in five years, Pearl Jam was back home, banding together to raise money for homelessness.

So far $11 million and counting has been raised for local organizations like Mary’s Place, Real Change and the YMCA.

“They always are givers, and they’re very personable people, you see them in Seattle all the time walking around and doing whatever,” said Sauve.

Fans from all over the country and the world flew in to support the effort while rocking out, like Jeff and Dawne Welch who flew in from Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

“So from the East Coast to the West Coast,” said Dawne Welch. “This is my very first one, he makes me listen to the music all the time, so I kind of know what’s going on tonight but very excited.”

“The music is great, the message is great wonderful people, they do a lot in the community,” said Jeff Welch.
