Pearl Jam have offered an official statement to fans thanking them for attending 2018 shows, seemingly confirming Eddie Vedder’s statement that the band would not be playing live for awhile, and that the next time they’d be together would be at some point in the studio.

The band tweeted on Saturday, “From starting the year in South America, heading to Europe for the summer & bringing it back to the States for the Home & Away Shows – We’ve enjoyed every minute of it and hope you have too!

From all of Pearl Jam, thank you. #PJLIVE2018 #PearlJam #TheHomeShows #TheAwayShows.”

At Pearl Jam’s second Fenway Park show in Boston on Tuesday night, Eddie Vedder announced that it would be ‘the last time we will be playing together for awhile. Next time will be in the studio.” dimitrispearljam from the PearlJam.com forums transcribed the quote. The Fenway Park concert was Pearl Jam’s final 2018 show, wrapping up the limited Home and Away Shows North American stadium tour.

Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready was recently interviewed on KEXP, and he discussed the band’s new album, and addressed rumors that it will come out in 2019, despite the release of a new song titled “Can’t Deny Me” coming in spring 2018.

The KEXP host said he was looking forward to a new album.

McCready said, “Yeah, me too. I don’t know where we’re at in that process right now (laughs). So we’ll see, I’ve heard rumors that it’s next year. I don’t know where we’re at in that process right now. I wish we did.”

He was then asked if there would be a tour to promote it.

“I’m sure we’ll do something to promote it. I’ll come in here and say (in joking voice), ‘Play this record.'”
