Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer did a Russian interview with <a href=”http://www.metronews.ru/novosti/reportjor-metro-vstretilsja-v-moskve-s-gitaristom-red-hot-chili-peppers-i-uznal-kakovo-emu-nesti-bremja-slavy/Tpopgj—946PK0D1jKNjA/” target=”_blank”>Metro News and was asked about comparisons to John Frusciante. Keep in mind these quotes have been translated so should be taken as paraphrases.

“Of course it gets annoying. On one hand, it is an honor for me to be part of this band, and honor be mentioned in the same breath as Frusciante. But all these comparisons are simply absurd.”

He added that people making the comparisons are ‘idiots.’

“Because we are two totally different people.”

“I have never tried never to emulate his technique. And, of course, I was not trying to get him to leave the band.”

Klinghoffer was also asked about his current relations with Frusciante.

“They are not good, and not bad. I would say that [there is] no [relationship] at the moment.”

“He tried as much as possible to distance himself from the band and I, while I had to learn to live in it. We have not [fought], just somehow our paths diverged. I think someday we can talk again.”

He said that despite their current lack of a relationship, he would ‘definitely’ like to write music with Frusciante again.
