Media mogul Rupert Murdoch has stated plainly that he does not plan to back former President Donald Trump if he runs again as the GOP candidate in the 2024 Presidential Election and has even said he would back a Democrat candidate, according to reports.

Chairman of News Corp and Fox News, Murdoch made it understood that due to the Trump-backed candidates not pulling out the win in the recent mid-term elections, Trump has put an end to his political career, according to a News Corp source.

“We have been clear with Donald. There have been conversations between them during which Rupert made it clear to Donald that we cannot back another run for the White House.” The News Corp source said.

Another tidbit that has come out is that Murdoch’s son, Lachlan, co-chairman of News Corp and chief executive of Fox Corporation – Fox News’ parent company – has informed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis that the media behemoth would back his candidacy for president over Trump in 2024 if he decided to run against him.

The source said: “Lachlan has been keen on Ron for some time,” adding, “He’s viewed within the organization as a sanitized version of Donald.”

Since DeSantis’ stunning win over Democrat rival Charlie Crist for Florida governor, the source stated that the win has bolstered the Murdoch’s support of DeSantis and their approval is now “stronger than ever.”

The source also added that if DeSantis decides to not run against Trump, the Murdoch’s will stay neutral, if Trump and Biden end up running against each other once again but would be willing to back a different Democrat candidate.

The source said: “If it turns out to be Donald versus Joe then it may be that we just cover the race without any leanings one way or the other.”

Another News Corp source said: “The controversial statements from Donald around the result of the 2020 presidential election were, for many, the beginning of the end of his political career,” adding, “Donald may not realize that quite yet, but many others have.”

Trump has declared that he will be making a big announcement this Tuesday from his home in Mar-a-Lago, Palm Beach, Florida, and it is expected to be an announcement of his intentions to run again in 2024.
