Slipknot recently introduced a new ‘S’ logo on limited-edition merchandise, but most fans have not liked it. Corey Taylor and the band shared the new designs on social media, showing T-shirts, tank tops, and long sleeves with the updated logo, which has a smoother look than the original created by the late drummer Joey Jordison. With that said, a Slipknot concert was evacuated due to safety concerns.
“The one and only one ‘SLIPKNOT’ symbol, that Originally, Defines, Represents, and Is ‘SLIPKNOT’ was the original one, produced by Joey. I understand how things go sometimes, but that’s taking it way far from Authenticity. the new ‘S’ looks like something a five year old drew for a Chinese food menu. What??? the original is tight in every way. the new, is just not as good or better than the original ‘S’, man, c’mon,” another fan chimed in.
The new logo has divided fans, with many saying they prefer the original design. Some fans criticized the new logo, calling it low quality and saying it looks childish. One fan pointed out that it seemed like something a five-year-old might draw.
The new logo is called the ‘Ritual S’ on Slipknot’s merch website, but some items still show the old tribal ‘S’ on the sleeves. Many fans have shared their negative opinions online, with some feeling insulted by the new design, especially those who have the original logo tattooed on them. However, a few fans defended the new look, saying it fits the current band.
Joey Jordison came up with the original tribal ‘S’ design on his father’s desk, and it became important to the band. Many members got it tattooed even before they were signed. The new merchandise is sold through Slipknot’s online store, ‘The Portal,’ and is described as very limited, with no plans for reprints.
