Corey Taylor had a message for media outlets that were beginning to report that Slipknot’s Clown was changing his name to ‘Mime’ due to the inclement weather clowns are currently enduring nationwide.

Obviously because of Slipknot’s long known mask & clown associations, both Entertainment Weekly and NME reported that Clown was concerned about backlash due to his name, but Taylor has proved that false.

The quote from Taylor that was said tongue-in-cheek:

“Even our dear Clown has downgraded himself to Mime, in order to distance himself from these hedonistic doppelgängers until the coast is clear.”

Twitter followers of the vocalist have known that Taylor has been joking about names lately including his own. Currently, his name is listed as (G)orey (Imp)aylor:

Corey has been very friendly in exchanges with fans and this one rare time where he tweeted something like this, but he set the record straight so there is no ‘Mime’- Clown is still Clown.

On clowns-Taylor also mentioned to comedy podcast ‘No Such Thing As a Fish’: “Remember, a real clown doesn’t need a knife to intimidate — just a bat and a good cold stare.”

Taylor was right back to joking minutes after he spoke out against EW with the No Such Thing As a Fish podcast taking it all in stride:

In other news Taylor had just released a video with Korn for Korn’s new track “A Different World”.

Earlier in the week Taylor provided larynx-shredding vocals joining Korn on stage for a live performance of the song at the Louder Than Life Festival.
