Smash Mouth lead singer Steve Harwell has passed away at age 56. The Smash Mouth lead singer retired in 2021 after Harwell was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, a cardiac ailment characterized by the enlargement and weakening of the heart muscle, as well as a severe neurological condition known as Wernicke encephalopathy in 2013.
2016’s Urbana, Illinois performance changed the situation when he collapsed on stage and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. Steve had a total wealth of 2.5 Million Dollars and was taken care of by his fiancee as he faced the final stages of chronic liver failure.
Robert Hayes, the band’s manager reported on Sunday that Harwell is under hospice care and has less than a week to live. Today, the unfortunate news of his passing came around and left the music industry in shock.
Smash Mouth had two original members until Harwell passed away. Steve Harwell and bassist Paul De Lisle, had been a part of the band since its inception.
Harwell had an interest in lush properties. Henderson, Nevada saw an investment by him of 600,000 dollars in a property which he sold 10 years later for 800,000. It made him relocate to Nashville, Tennessee.
