This past Sunday (February 9th) Kendrick Lamar took the stage at the Super Bowl, performing a variety of songs including, most notably, a diss track aimed at Drake. The Grammy award winning song in question, titled “Not Like Us,” accuses Drake of s*xual misconduct and being a p*dophile.
Following Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show, Ted Nugent took to Twitter/X to share his thoughts on the rapper’s performance.
“Hey Kendrick Lamar you suck!” Nugent wrote.
The musician, however, was quickly put in his place by fans who reminded the 76-year-old of his controversial past, with some fans specifically targeting Nugent’s alleged relationships with underage girls.
“Ted is a p*do, so it makes sense he’s on team Drake,” one user wrote.
“Sounds like you took offense to some things he said. Perhaps about the ‘a minor’ part,” another commented, referencing a lyric from Lamar’s song “Not Like Us.”
One other user added, “Of course, a p*dophile would hate the halftime show because it was about people like you.”
Some fans pointed to the lyrics of Nugent’s 1981 song “Jailbait,” which references having relations with a 13-year-old.
In the past, Nugent was accused by multiple women of having s*x with them while they were underage. One of them is Hole frontwoman and Kurt Cobain’s widow Courtney Love who claims she had relations with Nugent when she was just 12-years-old (in a later interview she said she was 14-years-old).
In 1978, 30-year-old Nugent dated 17-year-old Hawaii native Pele Massa who he wanted to marry, but couldn’t because of her age. While there are reports that Nugent admitted in previous interviews to becoming Massa’s legal guardian to get around their inability to marry, he has since denied having ever “adopted anybody.”
