Tom DeLonge is one of the bigger names in music thanks to being such a major part of Blink-182. However, as revealed by a recent Reddit thread, Tom DeLonge ended up meeting controversial Democrat politician Eric Swalwell.
If you didn’t know, in December 2020, Swalwell was mentioned in an Axios report regarding a suspected Chinese spy named Fang Fang, or Christine Fang. Fang had been developing relationships with California politicians, including Swalwell, whom the Chinese government saw as having promising political futures, since at least 2012.
However, according to NBC, the House Ethics Committee had concluded its two-year investigation into Rep. Eric Swalwell regarding allegations of connections with a suspected Chinese intelligence operative, Christine Fang. The committee, which began its probe in April 2021, decided not to take any further action.
In a letter to Swalwell, the committee stated that it would not pursue additional measures related to the allegations that he might have violated House Rules, laws, or other standards of conduct through his interactions with Fang. The letter stated the importance of being aware of potential foreign attempts to exert influence through gifts and interactions, and advised Swalwell to seek guidance from the Office of House Security to prevent or address such issues in the future.
