Tom Morello recently said that Iron Maiden is the band he most wants to see inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He feels lucky to have had the chance to support rock and metal musicians for the Hall of Fame and hopes Iron Maiden will eventually be recognized. Morello also revealed what bought Chris Cornell 16 years as well.

Although Iron Maiden has been eligible for 20 years, they haven’t been inducted yet, even after being nominated in 2023. This has made many fans feel that the Hall of Fame overlooks heavy metal music. However, Morello remains optimistic that Iron Maiden will get in someday.

Morello, who was inducted with his band Rage Against the Machine in 2023, has also introduced bands like The Clash and KISS at their inductions. In a podcast interview, he said, “Iron Maiden has been at the top of my list for a while.”

“Mother-flippin’ Maiden, dude! Like, that’s been on the top of my list for a while. I feel very, very fortunate they let me into that — I’m not sure how fortunate they feel — but I feel very fortunate that they let me into that room to make my case for the Randy Rhoadses, the KISSes and the Stevie Ray Vaughns, Rushes, Judas Priests and MC5s… But, Maidens? Maidens [are] next.”

He was also asked if he ever played with guitar legend Eddie Van Halen. Morello said he met Van Halen a few times through their mutual friend Chris Cornell, but they never played together. He called Van Halen “one of the greatest musicians of all time” and expressed his admiration for him.

“I did meet Eddie a couple of times, [but] the short answer is no. He was friends with Chris Cornell, and so I sometimes saw him with Chris. Eddie Van Halen is one of the greatest, you know, musicians of all time. I don’t know if it was when he was at the top of his game, though, but I love Eddie, and God bless him.”
