Carey can be often see embellished in some loose-fitting basketball shorts and a jersey when he hits the stage, recent shows have found him clothed in an illuminated (or at least seemingly light reactive) suit. That suit also seems to pay homage to the artwork of artist Alex Grey — a longtime favorite of the band.

Tool are having a Spring 2024 UK/European tour which was added to their extensive itinerary for 2024. The band made its highly anticipated return to Europe in the spring and the European trek kicked off May 25th in Hanover, Germany, and runs through June 27th in Oslo, Norway, for an appearance at the Tons of Rock festival. Their stop included in Berlin, Germany on June 8. However, one fan didn’t have a great VIP experience.
Tool recently performed at the Ziggo Dome in the Netherlands on May 27. Fans witnessed that the band frontman Maynard James Keenan whispered into the mic “Danny what the f**k are you doing?”
One fan revealed that the incident took place between the performance of Rosetta Stoned and Intolerance. Justin was riffing for a while and he was seemingly coming towards his natural conclusion. However, nothing was happening to progress to the next song.
It got pretty quiet and that’s when Maynard whispered (loudly enough for everyone to hear) into the mic “Danny what the f**k are you doing?”. Danny peaked from behind the drum set and, startled, started counting in the next song. Danny needed some equipment on the floor adjusted, so he crawled down a bit and started doing something there. Thus it took a few more seconds than usual and that’s why Maynard sounded a little curious.
Meanwhile, Danny Carey also shared his thoughts about the journey each Tool song undergoes from its inception to the final product. He said:
“It’s painstaking, but the end result is we’re all completely committed to our parts and we all have belief in what we’re playing, ’cause it’s been through the filter, so it’s good in that way. Then once we get there, though, we lay it on Maynard. And we’ll make some adjustments, of course, if he wants to dig in and sing another verse or extend the things; I mean, we’re flexible.”
