Tool Member Unloads On ‘Horseshit’ From ‘Crazed’ Fans

In a new Kerrang interview, Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan discussed the ‘crazed Twitterverse of horseshit.’

Your work invites a huge amount of speculation. People seem to want you to tell them that their theories about the meanings behind your music are correct…

“Yes and I’m not going to do that (laughs), and that’s mainly because there isn’t just one explanation. Some things are subjective, and some things are not. Some things are logical: take a step back, take away all the grandiose stuff and the idol-worship part, and look at something practically and you’ll come up with an answer that’s fucking reasonable – rather than this crazed Twitterverse of horseshit. Shut the door to the shit room.”

Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan has announced on FOX 10 that he would be opening a wine tasting room in Scottsdale, Arizona on March 14th. Keenan’s Tool bandmates recently worked on mastering the band’s new album in Portland, Maine, but he didn’t appear to be present in any photos the band have released.

Stephanie Olmo from FOX 10 tweeted, “I had the pleasure to chat with @mjkeenan about his first wine tasting room in the Valley. He’s been making wine for over a decade and is bringing a taste of his Northern AZ wineries to Scottsdale. The grand opening of Merkin Vineyards Old Town Scottsdale will be March 14th.”

Keenan tweeted, “Fingers crossed, March 14th Grand Opening. and @merkinvineyards for updates. #arizonawine #awga @azvignerons #oldtownscottsdaleaz.”

You can watch the interview with Maynard James Keenan on FOX 10 below. Keenan finished his A Perfect Circle tour for Eat the Elephant in December, and he will tour with Tool this summer in Europe. Keenan recently announced that Tool plan on releasing their new album between mid-May and mid-July, the followup to 2006’s 10,000 Days. Tool will also play North American festivals in the spring, in what will likely be the first shows of the tour for their fifth studio album.
