Pearl Jam, who recently dropped this bombshell about this late A-lister’s daughter, would release their eleventh studio album, Gigaton on March 27, 2020, and it was the group’s first album in nearly seven years. The release of the album Its release was scheduled to coincide with a tour of North America. However, the North American leg was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and eventually rescheduled to occur in 2022.
With this, Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist, Josh Klinghoffer has been a big part of the ongoing Gigaton 2022 tour as both an opening act for Pearl Jam and as a touring member. In a recent interview with KROQ Klinghoffer discussed how Pearl Jam frontman, Eddie Vedder helped him overcome performance anxiety by introducing him to the audience on every night of the tour. Credit to Ulitmate Guitar for the following.
“I guess I would have thought it would have been a completely different mindset. And I think it was three weeks ago today that the tour kicked off in San Diego, and I was thinking, ‘Oh boy, what’s this going to be like?’ And then Eddie introduced me and he played a song before I went on…”
He continued: “He did it at all the shows, and it was such a gracious thing, lovely thing for him to do. And he sort of just told the audience, like, ‘You pay attention. This guy’s with us.’ And it was such a beautiful thing that he did that, I mean, that I’m sure that helped enormously for me to just walk on and feel okay to be me, and just play some songs.”
During the same interview, Klinghoffer discussed playing both roles on tour: “Luckily, with Pearl Jam, I have a bit of a lighter load than perhaps I have had in the past, I’m playing maybe half the show. I tend to not join them for songs from their first couple of albums… But their entire new album I play on, and there are other songs that I joined them for. But yeah, it’s two different mindsets.
He also said: “But I think the great thing about [Pearl Jam] is that they’re such a team. And everyone in the band and the crew are all kinds of looking out for each other… I would say everyone’s kind of there and hoping to make it a good experience for everyone. And, you know, my being on that tour as the opener and a member of their band. It’s just another person in a long list of many who are trying to make it a great night for everybody.”
