Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker underwent surgery today, writing, “Thank you for all the love and prayers and understanding this week as I went into surgery. It was a hard decision to make but ultimately I couldn’t continue to play the drums without it. It was inevitable that my finger would have dislocated again without fixing the torn ligament surgically. So grateful for Dr. Shin and that my surgery was a success so that I can keep doing what I love and see you guys on tour soon🥁🤘(trigger warning: last photo is hard to look at).”
A fan wrote on Reddit, “I think Travis’s healing and gaining his strength is the right way to go, I feel people forget, you know this guy is nearly 50, not only has he drummed as a permanent member of Blink, Boxcar Racer, Transplants, +44 but he has done so much more other stuff with various other artists, his hands have taken a hell of a beating with his enthusiasm and passion for drums, this is the first not original line up with blink but the one member who’s made the most albums with blink, he’s always been famous for his energetic style, playing with one arm even if he could manage it, this is a comeback tour, he wants to put on a performance and we would love to see him smashing the shit out of those drums and cymbals! And be able to give the perfect middle finger signs to mark or Tom when they crack jokes about each other lol.”
