Dusty Hill’s last performance before his death with ZZ Top was on July 24th in Goshen, Indiana. The YouTube preview screen photo below is the last shot of him before he died.
ZZ Top announced, “We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX. We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top’. We will forever be connected to that “Blues Shuffle in C.”

Bass Magazine tweeted, “We are tremendously saddened to learn of the passing of Dusty Hill of ZZ Top. The legendary bass player died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Houston, TX. To say he will be missed is an understatement. (May 19, 1949 – July 28, 2021).”
Eric Alper said, “ZZ Top bassist Dusty Hill, who played with the blues rock trio for over 50 years, has died at age 72. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004 and will be missed.”
