Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer is currently recording a new project with the band’s former drummer Jack Irons. He discussed the return in a new interview with Prairie Sun Recording Studios. He appeared to reference Irons’ other band Pearl Jam entering the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, without Irons as an inducted member. Alternative Nation transcribed his comments.

“I kind of consider Jack a double Hall of Famer.”

He discussed asking Irons to record with him.

“I had a bit of a break this last year, and I felt like the break might be coming to a close, and I thought it would be wise to get some of these things recorded.

My friend Jack Irons moved up to this neighborhood in the last year or so. When we were on tour together a year or so ago, he was in the process of moving. I thought, ‘There’s a studio up there I’m dying to see. I think it’s probably about 10 minutes from where you’re moving, would you record with me if I brought up a load of songs or idea or grooves to work on? Would you like to work on something with me?’

He said yes. As I said, I didn’t realize how late in the year it had gotten already, I called you, and the weeks that we were looking at were available. I feel so lucky. It’s been such an honor to be here.”
