Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder performed at the Ohana Festival in Dana Point, California at Doheny State Beach on Saturday night. He discussed a ritual that surfers do when one of them pass away, referring to it as the ‘paddle ritual.’ He said it ‘helps set you on a path’ to heal from a tragedy. Eddie Vedder broke his silence on Kurt Cobain over the weekend.

He said a group of surfers paddle out and form a circle, and then throw the ashes of their friend and loved one along with flowers. He said when his uncle died they did a paddle out, and his brother threw the ashes up and they flew right into his (Eddie’s) face. He said he loved his uncle, so it wasn’t the worst thing in the world.

Vedder claimed that The Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards snorted his father. Richards has previously admitted to snorting his Dad’s ashes, mixed in with cocaine. Keith Richards was savagely disrespected by an actor recently.

Vedder told a story about another paddle tribute for a friend named Dave where one of the surfers left the circle ceremony to go catch a wave. At first Eddie was annoyed and found it disrespectful, saying, ‘F**king surfers.’ Vedder later discovered that the guy who went to catch the wave had Dave’s ashes in an urn in his backpack, and he did it to give Dave ‘one more ride.’ Eddie Vedder made a ‘weird’ Chris Cornell revelation a couple of days ago.
