Former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer revealed that he indirectly worked for Tool when he was a teen boy in a new Volume West interview on SiriusXM. “When I was 16 my first summer driving, I was an intern at a management office here in town, and they managed Tool, they managed a couple other bands. They managed my favorite LA band at the time, the Geraldine Fibbers.”
“I was working for their manager for a summer, that was my first time over the hill [after growing up in the valley]. I had, the friend who I had met out in the valley, who got me that job, he and I were playing music. The first music I played, before Bob [Forrest], it was never public, but I played with [Shepherd Stevenson] from the Pigmy Love Circus.”
“It was basically just a garage band, but it was Shep and our friend, and myself. It was a very disparate looking band, ages 15, 22 or 23, and however old Shep was. He’s probably a little younger than I am now, 36.””
Pigmy Love Circus also features Tool drummer Danny Carey, John Ziegler, Peter Fletcher, and Michael Savage. Josh Klinghoffer was fired by Red Hot Chili Peppers in December and replaced by John Frusciante, just weeks after releasing his ‘Pluralone’ solo album. Klinghoffer then received a call from Eddie Vedder to see how he was doing, and Pearl Jam brought him on to open for them on their spring 2020 tour.
