AC/DC are reportedly planning a tour and new album with Brian Johnson, Angus Young, Phil Rudd, and Cliff Williams reunited according to Dee Snider, who has been campaigning for the band to play at the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2021, and he now wants Guns N’ Roses to join them.
Eddie Trunk tweeted, “Hey Dee. I love the effort here & 100% behind you on this. But do we know @acdc will be active for sure? Do we know they would want to do this? (NFL apparently does not pay bands). It would be amazing! Just hoping it’s not a waste of effort for this band..”
Dee Snider responded, “I know that the OG band is active and recording. Planning on touring. But does it really matter? Say we get @NFL and @RocNation to ask @acdc and they pass…its still a victory for real rock in every way! Then maybe they ask @QueenWillRock or @gunsnroses. ROCK WINS!”
A fan named Bruce wrote, “Eddie yes it will help either way, if the response is massive, maybe, just maybe the NFL will get an idea that Rock is as big as ever. Maybe AC/DC won’t be available but there is always GNR, Metallica who are also big enough.”
Snider responded, “PS 16K AND LIKE A SNOWBALL ROLLING DOWN A HILL IT IS RAPIDLY GROWING. I HAVE TWO DAYS OF RADIO INTERVIEWS THIS WEEK! PEOPLE ARE TALKING ABOUT THIS! htt!p://chng.it/WPpspM8b @NFL @nflcommish @RocNation @RocNationSports #WEWANNAROCKSSB55.”
Steven Glansberg said, “Well obviously, they’re a rock band. I’m not slighting Dee or Twisted Sister btw. I’m just simply saying they’re not near popular enough or enough of a draw to play the Super Bowl.”
Dee shot back, “WHY THE EFF IS THIS STILL COMING UP?! I have never suggested that my band is big enough or should play the superbowl. I am just a fan raising holy hell for the music I love to be give a chance on the greatest stage in the world, halftime @nfl @superbowl!” An AC/DC heartbreaking ‘wheelchair’ photo just leaked.
