Former Guns N’ Roses bassist Tommy Stinson discussed Axl Rose firing legendary producer Roy Thomas Baker from the Chinese Democracy sessions during a recent live Q&A, and he discussed how he strongly disliked working with Baker. EricStacey posted a recap on MyGNRForum.com.

“Of course my obsession with GNR takes an opening to ask some questions. they were talking about producers. I ask about Roy Thomas Baker. Tommy says he could not wait for him to get fired. Hated working with him for a year and a half. Mother f**ked him basically. Pompous, and other words.”

Slash revealed who was ‘back’ with Guns N’ Roses last week. Sausagebrain responded, “I can see how he would clash with RTB over methods. Tommy’s roots are in punk and a one or two take recording philosophy, and Roy ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Baker is the ultimate overdub and rerecord merchant. I guess their personalities rubbed each other up the wrong way too.”

RockNRoll41 chimed in, “The OP’s description of this event only further confirms how much of a bunch of fuckups the record label really all are. Hopefully things don’t end up this way with the NITL lineup now too.

so is Going Down just forever stuck in limbo now? Tommy can’t have it due to some weird record company clause, I’m assuming, and it doesn’t make sense for the NITL version of the band to use it now. Damn… thank fuck multiple versions of it have leaked now, at least!”

Tommy Stinson’s final Guns N’ Roses run of shows was the 2014 Las Vegas residency, followed by Duff McKagan returning in 2016 after previous guest performances with the band. Slash recently discussed Guns N’ Roses losing huge money.
