Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan praised Tool and A Perfect Circle frontman Maynard James Keenan in a recent Instagram story Q&A. You can view that quote and other recent highlights below. Corgan recently shared a photo of himself with members of Tool backstage at a recent show. The Smashing Pumpkins are currently on a widely acclaimed European tours, where James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin are playing Pumpkins material from the late 2000’s and 2010’s for the first time. Maynard James Keenan recently announced that the new Tool album will be released on August 30th.

How’s your relationship with Maynard JK? You both are legends!!

“Have always gotten on well with MJK and respect him tremendously as an artist, visionary, and entrepreneur.”

Why are celebrities so involved in politics? They also appear to be very one sided.

“Because it’s convenient for the Left to use them as tools to sell us on the State as God.”

How do you distinguish between cultural sensitivity and political correctness?

“Sensitivity in my opinion is respecting, in a self-directed manner, that which might do others harm. Political correctness is somebody telling you what to do when they should mind their own business.”

As we move into the future, who in society is going to determine what the truth is?

“As of now it’s the tech monopolies. That should terrify you.”

What do you think about websites using your Q&A’s as clickbait content?

“I think it’s pathetic. Shows the sad state of media. My quips aren’t news unless they involve real things, like recording an album.”

It sucks that I’m so into your early music and can’t really connect with the new stuff…

“It sucks that you feel the need to put that out there as if it’s some truth. The issue is yours, not mine. And honestly you were much more fun to be around at age 5.”

Thoughts on Ariana Grande?

“Very, very talented. Vocally gifted.”
