Kurt Cobain’s widow Courtney Love has released a note and rare photo for her late husband to mark the 24-year anniversary of his death.

“the universe always rips open on this day… those ocean blue eyes, we miss you.”

Last year, Courtney Love discussed writing her memoir in an interview with Joan Juliet Buck, and reacted to being accused of murdering her husband Kurt Cobain in 1994.

“I’ve been both Hollywood and rock . . . ah . . . well . . . the rockers don’t care,” Love says. “It’s all been out there anyway. The feuds. The fighting. The fucking. But with the Hollywood stuff, you have to be really careful. I’m not going to omit much, but there are definitely secrets I will keep and not write about. But Hollywood is very different than the rock’n’roll world. Hollywood people you just have to be careful about.”

Buck then asks about the lawyers who will have to vet her book before it is published, and Love clarifies the part she’s worried about with an unforgettable euphemism: “I’m just talking about adventures . . . in the night . . . with people.”

Though Love’s memoir will address her marriage to Kurt Cobain, his death at the age of 27, and the still-brewing theories that she was somehow involved (“I’ve spent 24 years being called [a murderess]. It’s hardcore.“), she hasn’t been able to address him in the writing process just yet. “I haven’t really touched upon him so much yet,“ she tells Buck. “He’s such an icon that it has to be handled with kid gloves. But at the same time I’m just going to tell the story of what happened, and people can love it or hate it. I don’t care. I really don’t care.“
