Eddie Van Halen sickness rumors have been circulating in recent weeks since David Lee Roth and Michael Anthony claimed they heard something, and now Toto guitarist Steve Lukather has said that Van Halen is dealing with ‘health issues.’

Lukather told the Eddie Trunk podcast, “I love Ed, he’s been a friend of mine for 40 years. I’m still friends with Mike [Anthony, bass], I love those guys. I’m Switzerland, I don’t get in the middle of all that, you know? I can’t look you right in the eye and say, ‘Listen, I’ve been in contact with them, we text all the time…’ I really can’t say much, man.

Everybody wants Van Halen back, nobody more than me because Ii still think they’re one of the greatest rock ‘n’ roll bands of all time, and if there’s any chance to play, you know, they’re laying back and waiting to see what happens next. I think they’re on a hiatus, there’s been some health issues that they’re dealing with and stuff like that.

We’re older guys now, and to go on the road requires a lot of extra effort in terms of – as a human being. I don’t think there’s any drama issues that are keeping them from working. I’m not the guy to say anything, I love those brothers so much and we’ve always had a great relationship. I’m a big fan and also adore them as human beings.”

Get The Show On The Road posted, “Health issues don’t necessarily mean a death sentence. I’m pretty sure I read that Lou Gramm had to withdraw from the Foreigner tour due to health reasons but I don’t think he’s going to keel over any time soon.

Brian Johnson had to quit touring with AC/DC due to health. Ed may have some issue that is not life threatening but precludes him from being able to go out on a tour. I think it’s natural to fear the worst based on his history but it may very well something much more benign.”

Zahzoo said, “No doubt, there’s no surprise in the age factor being a consideration for big rock-n-roll touring… especially factoring in the high mileage associated with the Van Halens. Note the plurality in Steve’s response…

Most assume the reference is Eddie specific… but the reality may be closer to both Ed and Alex have a few typical age related health concerns, that, while not dire… may stand in the way of over stressing themselves, health wise, by touring. It’s not at all unfeasible to choose to not push yourself at that age from a purely common sense perspective knowing the toll of things you used to do may do you more harm than good…

With age comes wisdom… that’s helpful if you want to continue with the aging process…” Eddie Van Halen kissed a surprising man in resurfaced photos. The remarks from Toto’s guitarist were transcribed by Ultimate-Guitar.
