Pearl Jam Online have tweeted, “Eddie Vedder wrote several songs with @Glen_Hansard & Cat Power for “Flag Day”, the new film by @SeanPenn
“Flag Day” will premiere at this year’s edition of @Festival_Cannes that will take place from 6th to 17th July 2021.”
Vedder previously worked with Penn on the 2007 film ‘Into the Wild’ featuring his most famous solo songs like “Hard Sun” and “Rise.”
Pearl Jam Online have also stated, “Among the 24 directors whose films are heading to The Cannes Film Festival are Sean Penn for his new film Flag Day and Nanni Moretti with Tre Piani. The Cannes Film Festival returns this year for its 74th edition, running from July 6 to 17.”
Pearl Jam will return to playing live in September. RatherStarved posted on the Ten Club board, “We have a confirmed PJ date in 3.5 months. If you think back a year or even 6 months, there was a very low chance we’d be able to say that. This is a great announcement as far as I’m concerned.”
Eddie Vedder released an EP last year, and he has not toured in 2 years since the pandemic postponed Pearl Jam’s 2020 Gigaton world tour.
