Foo Fighters members Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins were recently interviewed on Sammy Hagar’s Rock N’ Roll Road Trip. Alternative Nation transcribed some of their comments.

Hagar asked Grohl and Hawkins if they prefer analog or digital, though he said he already knew the answer.

Grohl answered, “I love the analog because Taylor does too.”

Hagar said, “But digital makes life easiest, it’s like power tools.”

Grohl responded, “You know the great thing about analog, I have no problem recording either way, it doesn’t matter, but I do like the restrictions that analog poses on any band.”

Hawkins added, “Keeps your honest.”

Hagar then asked the big question, “The serious one, the one that is going to break this whole thing up.”

“Foo Fighters or Nirvana?”

Hawkins immediately answered, “Nirvana.”

He added, “I wasn’t there, you know?”

Grohl said, “(Laughs) I’m pleading the fifth on that one. I’m going to plead the fifth.”

Grohl also discussed playing charity shows.

“We’ve done a bunch of Bridge School things up here before, and those are always really fun. The vibe is always great, because the backstage hang is good. Everyone is there for the right reason. We try to do as much as we can. We love to play. Whenever we get the opportunity to go out and do it, we love to do it.”
